A Basket Case
Allison is known as the basket case of the group, the social outcast and the freak.
She's a very strange yet interesting character, usually when she talks its to defend herself. She dresses in black from head to toe and her make up is quite heavy.Most of the time Allison is hiding her face behind her hair, this shows us how socially isolated she is. . She isolates herself from the other students. “my parents ignore me.” the way she says this quote shows the audience that she takes it very personally and is very upset about the lack of attention from her parents.For the first part of the film, she does not talk, she is silent as apart from the occasional squeak. Unlike the other students, she is in detention by her own choice.

The lunch scene is a very important scene throughout the movie because each lunch the characters have helps to display their family life in what they have to eat. For lunch Allison has a sandwich with both breakfast cereal and pixie sticks (sugar). This tells us things may not be perfect at home. Later in the movie Allison reveals she wants to run away and claims to be in therapy. Also Allison is constructed to be as a character who wants attention because when she threw all the things out of her purse on to the table, it was an act of desperation like she wanted to be heard.
By the end of the movie Allison is kissing the jock in the leather jacket who hadn't really noticed her before.
